Recipe for “March to the Beet”

To create this great vitality juice, you need one medium beetroot, one handful of basil leaves, two pears, one lime and half a red bell pepper. Top and tail the beetroot and then if it’s organic or home grown scrub it. If not, peel it and cut into pieces small enough to fit in the juice extractor. Remove the seeds from the pepper and wash the pears and lime. Fold the basil leaves up tightly and put them in the health juicer between pieces of beetroot. Let the other ingredients follow, then stir and drink the beverage immediately.

Beetroot juice is very rich and this recipe emphasizes that fact with the lime juice, which helps cut through the drink’s richness. The beetroot is also complemented by the basil in this beverage. Beetroot contains caretonoid Betaine which has numerous benefits including antioxidant properties which is essential for your juice diet. This helps with red blood cell production and lymph activity. Beetroot is also an excellent source of iron while red peppers contain lots of antioxidants which are excellent ingredients in your daily fresh juice intake. For those who aren’t familiar with fennels, this is a vegetable that has two distinct areas that can be juiced. For this recipe, we will need one fennel bulb, one red pepper, four medium carrots and two apples. The bulb section of the fennel is at the base of the plant and the juice in this recipe gives a unique and distinct natural aniseed or licorice flavor to the drink that is sweet. Fennel is a great choice for adding different flavors into the normal fresh juices.

The juice from the bell pepper, carrots and apple contain an abundance of vitamins A and C, natural sugars and enzymes. Fennel juice assists in detoxifying the liver and is also a diuretic. Sometimes it is used to relieve trapped wind and aid digestion. When all these fruits and vegetables are combined, this will result in a natural detoxifying, immune system boosting and energy giving drink.

The classic combination of celery and apple, which are two of the main ingredients in a waldorf salad, is what we need to create this fresh juice. You will need four Granny Smith unpeeled apples, two sticks of celery and two pinches of ground cinnamon. The cinnamon gives the juice a comforting and lifting aroma while the apples are said to provide energy through their natural sugars. Make sure you leave the skin on the apples because the nutritional content is stored in that part.

Celery is often used as a diuretic and so this juice can help get rid of any fluid retention. Vegetable juicing celery is good because it also contains potassium which is good for the skin. This serves one pint of the beverage.

This next recipe is good for reducing your cholesterol levels. Grapefruit is recommended forits rich source of bioflavanoids and vitamin C which protect your arteries. Blueberries, my favorite, are also potent antioxidants. Apples can help prevent hardening of the arteries and reduce cholesterol.

Combine 250 grams of blueberries, 125 grams of grapefruit, 250 grams of apples and 1-inch cube fresh root roughly chopped ginger into the power juicer and the health drink is ready to serve.

Home grown wheatgrass juice may have a very sweet taste that some people describe it as sickly sweet. This wheatgrass recipe is fast and easy to make, not to mention it also gets a whole lot of goodness into your system. You don’t necessarily need a wheatgrass juicer to make this healthy drink.

This recipe addresses the intense sweetness by using celery which was enough sodium to give the beverage a more savory feel. The parsley also helps blend the taste into something that is less wheatgrass dominated. Wheatgrass is full of nutrition because it is filled with protein, enzymes, minerals high levels of chlorophyll which is anti-bacterial and helps build the blood as it is very similar in structure to Hemoglobin.

Put a handful of parsley, one green cocktail, one shot of wheatgrass and two celery sticks in the electric juicer then drink immediately an empty stomach after juicing.

Another recipe consists of a 24 ounce pumpkin that is deseeded and skinned, three oranges and one inch root ginger. One of the most demanding times of a woman’s life is pregnancy. During this time, a woman needs to get all the nutrients she can get to support the growth of the baby growing inside her. Foods that a woman should avoid when pregnant are raw eggs and meats, cured meats, bitter gourd, alcohol, saffron and fish with mercury.

Alcohol can pass through the placenta and prevents the baby from getting oxygen. Raw eggs and meats may carry salmonella bacteria that can the mother and baby. Cured meats and canned goods contain sodium nitrate that increases the risk of the baby having brain cancer. Mercury in fish can damage the fetal nervous system and the following fish that contains high level of mercury are swordfish, mackerel, shark, trout, tilefish and certain tuna. Saffron taken in excessive amounts can be deadly and cause hemorrhages so it should be avoided by pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Nutritious foods that a pregnant woman should take are spinach and asparagus because these are excellent sources of flavanoids, iron, anti-oxidants and folic acid. One highly nutritious fresh juice is a combination of a medium-sized carrot, two stalks of spinach, six sticks of asparagus and a tomato. This makes a very thick juice. For diabetes patients, skip the carrot.

For another recipe, combine a medium sized cantaloupe, a cup of strawberries and one orange in your electric juicer. Oranges and other citrus fruits may taste acidic but they do not cause your stomach to feel bad.

Recipes for Urinary Tract Infection

When bacteria and other infectious organisms invade the urinary tract, an infection occurs. UTIs occur in both men and women although women tend to suffer more because of the anatomical difference. With infants, though, UTI occurs more often with boys because uncircumcised baby boys tend to accumulate bacteria under the foreskin.

One thing that can help flush out the bladder of liquids and bacteria is drinking juices that are high in vitamin C and it also provides an environment in urine that is hostile to most bacteria. Grapefruit and guava juices make excellent healing juice. Foods high in zinc help produce white blood cells and eliminate bacteria. If you live in a tropical country, drinking coconut water is very helpful. Based on my experience when I had a bladder infection, substituting the usual drinks with coconut juice can treat the disease.

If the tract infection has been present for only a day or two, then antibiotics should be your last resort because the bacteria can be immune to them in the future and there are also other side effects from taking them. Fresh juice can help sufferers of urinary tract infection greatly. Drinking a glass of fresh cranberry or blueberry juice first thing in the morning everyday can hasten the healing process. Aside from all the healthful properties of these juices, they are also very effective in restraining the E.coli that causes UTI, stripping the bacteria off the bladder walls.

For some vegetable juice recipe, try kale or spinach juice. For this to work well, you need a good vegetable juicer. Dilute the vegetable you chose in coconut water, but if this is not available, you can substitute this with cantaloupe juice. Throw in one or two inches of ginger for a spicy kick.

It’s very natural to pass gas or wind, but excessive flatulence is another story. It is normal to pass wind 14 times a day in average. This contains 40 percent of odorless carbon dioxide produced by bacteria in the intestines, 10 percent is a mixture of numerous other gases which includes the byproducts of microbes and is responsible for the offensive odors. The remaining other half is just swallowed air.

Too much wind can cause abdominal discomfort and can also give you embarrassing situations. The best way to control this is to watch what you eat. After eating the gas will be expelled from five to seven hours. Aside from refraining from dairy products except yogurt, avoid carbonated drinks and chewing gum.

Garlic and ginger are known to be anti-gas and you can either add them when cooking your meals or simply put them in a juicer. Chinese midwives use these spices for women who have just given birth. Juicing two or three cloves of garlic and a slice of ginger can be very effective. It can taste bitter so adding honey to sweeten it.

Another option for getting rid of excessive flatulence is juicing alfalfa sprouts or wheatgrass alone. These are among the most nutritive greens and are mild and easy to drink. Cut half an inch slice of ginger with the skin cleaned or scraped off. Toss it together into the power juicer with your alfalfa sprouts or wheatgrass. One last tip before drinking either one of these juices – it shouldn’t be on the night of a hot date.

There are times when I suffer from insomnia, especially when I work at night shift. I’ve been doing this for more than two years now but sometimes sleeping during the day can be very difficult for me. I have done some research on what I can do as well as others who are dealing with this sleeping disorder. In addition to that are some juicer recipes that are said to be able to help those who are enduring insomnia.

The common causes of insomnia are overwork, jet lag, stress, worry, drugs, alcohol, nicotine, stimulants, sleeping at inappropriate times, poor nutrition and toxicity of the blood. Long term insomnia, though can take a toll on a person’s health condition and the causes can be very severe, such as depression, anxiety, grief, medication diseases and menopause.

The first recipe that can help insomniacs is a combination of beets and celery. The complex carbohydrates and starch in beet root can help promote sleep. Celery can be a good tonic for insomniacs because it has a calming effect on the central nervous system. Another vegetable juice recipe is a fusion of bean sprouts, lettuce, and cauliflower. These veggies are good sources of Vitamin B and lettuce have a mild sedative effect because of their natural opiate that calms the nerves and muscles. Mix these with raw honey and drink before bedtime.

For a mixture of fruits, combine an apple with an orange or half a grapefruit. The natural sugars and carbohydrates will have a tranquilizing effect and can help those who are dealing with insomnia.

This juicer recipe is for creating different concoctions that can help people who constantly get asthma attacks, such as myself. Drinking this beverage can help clear the airways and, if done religiously, can even prevent asthma attacks.

The first recipe is a combination of carrots and celery. Carrots is known in dispelling excessive mucus from the body. Drinking carrot juice on its own daily is no doubt good for the health. Throwing in one or two ribs of celery will make this drink more effective because celery has super cleansing power. Improvement on tolerance levels will be noticeable after about a week of drinking this.

The next recipe requires more vegetable juicing and will be needing wheatgrass, alfalfa sprouts, parsley and celery. One doctor mentioned that a diet which is high in chlorophyll can help detoxify the liver and colon. Such cleansing can rid our system of much toxicity and it can also reduce inflammation of these organs. First, take a rib of celery and use a handful of the wheatgrass, alfalfa sprouts and parsley. Put these all in the juicer and mix the drink with half a glass of water, adding two teaspoons of raw honey. This combination may be difficult to drink, but it’s definitely highly nutritious and healthy.

Making grape juice and drinking it regularly can be effective in reducing the frequency of asthma attacks. Grapes are known to have potent anti-inflammatory properties and it would also be suitable for children, although those who drink it below seven years old should have the drink diluted with water to prevent diarrhea and wind.

Most asthma sufferers can’t stomach citrus fruits, so another good substitute is drinking a beverage that has a combination of guava juice, strawberries and cranberries because these fruits have a high content in vitamin C.
